Cross Creek, Florida was the home of author Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, and the site of the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings State Park. Rawlings wrote many of her internationally-renowned prize-winning books here at the Cross Creek home in the painting. In this painting, the tall palm trees reach into the bright blue sky over the old Cross Creek home. The old Florida home at Cross Creek hasn't changed much since the 1800s - Florida is still much the same as the time when Rawlings lived.
About Mary Hubley
I've been painting the coast since I could first hold a crayon at my Grandmother's beach hotel in Ocean City, New Jersey. I grew up with an artist mother and a father who went fishing on his boat every weekend. I worked for many years in the corporate world as an editor and illustrator. Now I spend most of my time painting around the marshes and sandy locales on my Florida island. I'm an award-winning artist and sell my work online and through several prominent galleries.
