St. Augustine is the oldest city in the Continental U.S. - from Spanish colonial to today, it is a historic city that has Spanish origins. This image is from vintage ephemera and antique clippings, as well as pieces of paintings and photographs from St. Augustine artist Mary Hubley. The vintage images of St. Augustine include the Spanish Fort, Castillo de san Marcos, the lions statue from the Bridge of Lions, some antique flowers, the St. Augustine lighthouse, seashells, palm trees, and lots of mentions of St. Augustine things.
I've been painting the coast since I could first hold a crayon at my Grandmother's beach hotel in Ocean City, New Jersey. I grew up with an artist mother and a father who went fishing on his boat every weekend. I worked for many years in the corporate world as an editor and illustrator. Now I spend most of my time painting around the marshes and sandy locales on my Florida island. I'm an award-winning artist and sell my work online and through several prominent galleries.
